"Big Red" has been the name of the resident cat at the Red Shutter Inn for a number of years. When we bought the Inn, we were advised that "Big Red" was a "fixture" and therefore came with the place. We admired Red's tenacity, and ability to jump through windows, and have named the catski company after him. We've also bought three big red Pisten Bully snow cats, and we have quite a Big area near Red Mountain, so the name fits.

The best thing about our area, besides its abundant fresh powder, is the fact that it's only 25-30 minutes up the highway! That means that instead of leaving at 6am and not getting any turns in until 11am, you'll be able to leave after breakfast, still be skiing by 9:30 or 10, and be back for dinner in plenty of time after a full-on day of skiing! You can even leave the kids at day care and get back in time at the end of the day to pick them up (with a bit of babysitting)!
