Mountain Biking - lifted and cross-country

Red Resort will have the Silverlode Chair running this summer for lift-accessed mountain biking. Working with local trailbuilders, they'll be creating some green circle, blue square, and black diamond runs to suit every level of biker - and then relax on the deck at the Red Shutter with a cool one when you're done!

Rossland isn’t the Mountain Biking Capital of Canada for no reason! Hundreds of kilometres of trails of all abilities, including some incredible downhill rides. I highly recommend the Oasis Trail for intermediate and advanced riders – a great ride and easy access from the Red Shutter. Or do the downhill ride to the Warfield Pool, and get us to pick you up in the van and bring you back! Doukhobor Draw is another fantastic downhill experience - read what "Explore" magazine said in 1996, and the trails still seem the same.

"Devine Ride" Mountain Biking Camps - all-women and mixed group coaching camps - stay with us, and ride with ex world champion Cindy Devine

Check out the maps on www.rosslandtrails.ca - the official trails society website, for hiking and mountain biking maps.

Hiking

Try hiking the new Summit Trail down the ridgeline of the Rossland Range, or check out the Dewdney or Old Glory trails. Take the Centennial Trail into town for lunch, or try any of the local mountain biking trails, most of which provide beautiful views..

Fishing

The trout are only 20 minutes away! My dad only went out once this year, and came back with 6 walleye - lots of trout out there too. The Columbia River and Arrow Lake are both a good bet.

Rossland Golden City Days

2nd weekend of September.

Includes "The Rubberhead" mountain bike race, running race, and combined Ironman. Kieren was 3rd in the run this year, but will be working on his biking - if you can beat him in the run, your stay is HALF PRICE! If you are a girl and you beat him in the run, you can stay that night for FREE! (The first-place woman was faster than Kieren this year, so it can be done).

Great family activities, "dryer drag" race, jumping castle, slide, parade, and dance!

Pubs and Restaurants

My favourites:

Strawberry daquiri on a sunny patio:Gypsy on the Green (The Rossland Golf Course Clubhouse)

Wings & pub food: the Rock Cut Pub, half mile walk or Warren will pick you up in his limo! Restaurant section with kid's menu and crayons as well

Cappuccino, nice atmosphere, great soup & salad The Grind Cafe

Muffins and meeting locals: Clansey's Cafe

Coffee, books, and a date square: Goldrush Books and Espresso

Breakfast with the kids: Sunshine Cafe (they have toys!)

Friendly service, best kids menu, fantastic adult meals too: Idgie's Restaurante (sometimes you'll hear the singing chef as well)

Steamshovel pub for live music

Shopping

Don’t miss the Powderhound, Revolution, and Kingdom for your biking and outdoor adventure needs and wants, plus a variety of other specialty shops.

Swimming

Swim in Rossland’s outdoor community pool, play at the huge outdoor waterslides at the Warfield Pool (<10min) or the indoor Trail Aquatic Centre (15min). Or join the rest of town on hot summer days for a picnic at Nancy Greene Lake.

Museums

The Gold Mine museum and the art gallery are both worth a look, or visit some of the studios of fantastic local artists

Car rental

We can arrange on-site car rental through www.rentawreck.ca – cars and vans daily, weekly, monthly

Get married!!

Rossland is a lovely town for a wedding, with lots of activities before and after, and several restaurants and caterers for the reception (we'd recommend Gypsy on the Green or Gypsy@Red). Yes, same sex couples and non-residents can be legally married in BC! Need help or advice? Call us, we got married on the top of a mountain ourselves!
